Know How Thy
Feces be Assembled

Those of you old enough to have watched Magnum P.I. during the early 1980s may remember that Tom Selleck’s character made frequent mention of “listening to his little voice.” Doing so, more often than not, helped Magnum avoid all manner of catastrophes.

I lived in Hawai’i from 1992 to 1994. While there, that little voice spoke to me on numerous occasions — mostly while I was driving a dive boat. And, yes, the little voice helped keep me or my passengers out of trouble more times than I can count.

Menehune

Local legends say the source of the “little voice” was the menehune (men-ay-hoon-ay) which, for lack of a better description, are often characterized as Hawai’ian leprechauns. I don’t care. Wherever the little voice came from, I’m grateful. (Better Grateful than Dead, I always say.)

You don’t believe it? Well, here’s a story about the day “the little voice” saved a passenger’s butt.
