The Little Voice Speaks
One day in 1993, I was taking a boat load of divers to the south side of the island of Lana’i. I was almost to Kamaike Point when the little voice spoke up and said, “Examine the passengers’ gear.” I had one of my crew take the helm, and walked to the back deck where the staff had set up 16 sets of BCs, regulators and tanks.
By the time I got to the fifth set of equipment, I found exactly what the little voice had told me to look for. I turned and entered the passenger cabin. “Who has the yellow and blue Dacor BC with the Sherwood Magnum regulator?” I asked.
A diver sheepishly raised his hand. “Have you been diving yet this week?” I inquired.
The passenger nodded his head. “How did your regulator perform?” I asked.
“It breathed terribly,” he responded, “and I just had it serviced before I left.”
“Come with me,” I said, “there is something I need to show you.”
