Three Classic Stupid Diver Tricks
During the two weeks I spent at Captain Don’s Habitat in Bonaire, I asked the staff to tell me the stupidest thing they’d ever seen a visiting diver do. There wasn’t a lot; if anything, Captain Don’s seems to attract a better caliber of diver than I’m used to seeing.
I heard the usual assortment of ills: overweighting, inability to properly assemble equipment, failure to follow directions, etc., and divers guilty of these transgressions tended to be the exception, not the rule. Three things stood out, however — enough to merit relating here.
The first thing came as the result of advice from one of the staff. “You want to see some stupid diver tricks?” he said. “Just stand here at the top of the stairs and look down at the dock. Wait long enough and you’ll see a few good ones.”
